*You roll your d20 dice, it's double damage, the malevolent cyborg iPhone dragon fiend and its app demons of Loc-nar has been defeated which opened a 'Rift' it has sealed in the fabric of space and time. As you walk into this new realm of near infinite possible where the fabric of existence is from the movies of the mind you create with others together...what will you do within?*
Our first choice was the 'Traveller' sci-fi d6 system and a adventure for it. We played for days, together, but my wife and I struggled to learn the ins and outs of being a GM and player. (The combat aspects, rolling for actions, etc.) The owner has taken his time repeatedly to be more than someone behind a counter with $ in his eyes by answering our questions, introducing us to other systems and even allowing my son and I to sit in while he played 'Magic the Gathering' with others while a small group of players in the larger gameroom played 'Warhammer'. Through out that day while there he was gracious to my son. This means a lot to a parent to see how he patiently answered his questions as taught us both that system. For our son's birthday we purchased two board games the next visit with my wife lost in the store parusing all the great selections.
I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about... I've been coming in every week and playing for free. The owner is very knowledgeable about his stock, friendly, and always willing to special order something for you.
It's been a long time going back to the 80s since I've played tabletop rpgs. When my wife and I met we both reminiced about those days of gathering together with friends entering the near endless possibilities of our imaginations. Today's rpg videogames don't afford players the treasures tabletop rpgs, miniatures war games and card games such as 'Magic' offer family and friends. We want our son to have the same joy and fun we did all the while learning good social and communication skills along with complex problem solving with the management of the various in-game-elements that in many ways will carry over into his real life long after his childhood is over as he learns how to interact. Unlike the instant pleasure of smartphone and gaming consoles, there is are rich returns in the time invested on a traditional rpg so we saw them as a way to get him off the dopamine of modern electronics onto what's a lot more healthier.
Definitely the best game in Wichita Falls. Store is very neat and well lit! I would never hesitate to bring my kid in. Such a large variety of items! I love it.
So just went in to play some games and he charges just to play there. Everything is overpriced. And for magic the gathering the tournament payouts are a complete joke.
The new systems such as 'Starfinder' and new 'Star Wars' system showed to us all have promise and there are other titles we will get to add to the choices like 'Tekumel' and Cthullu based systems along with more open ones like the 'd6' for our family game nights. Good memories await those who enter here.
His personal choice of the two boardgames was from the Jackson 'Munchkins' system (the in space sci-fi), we look forward to learning and playing it too knowing that the owner will be available to demo it if needed; supporting the product we bought. It's the personal attention that's best here. The level of customer service and personal grace at 'Pegasus Loft' should get 10 stars (imho).
That night we spent some 3 hours or more into the early morning (just like those 'good old gaming days') exploring a haunted mansion on a hill. His character became the antogonist. Again, my wife and I really enjoyed ourselves as our child playing as his character chased us around in that spooky setting with a supernatural monster villian. We even put on a spooky soundtrack compilation to set the mood.
Best game store in Wichita Falls hands down! They have board games, card games, and decent selection of older video games. Plus many other things. Definitely coming back.
