Very clean and very friendly. SAM WAS GREAT.
There are not enough adjectives to describe how bad this room was, old old old, I can see why Hawthorne had to sell, there are thousands of dollars of renovation that needs to be done and more than a soft renovation... filthy carpet, furniture, curtains, mattress so old and soft it sunk in the middle, light bulbs out, tv from 1992, beat up old laminate furniture also from 1992, desk chair broken down, slow internet, old smelly pillows, regular chair sunk in, couch stained, shower not really working great, walls were scarred...it goes on. The ac did work, the towels were ok, the fridge did work, but the suites had no utensils, plates, etc.. in them and when asked the girl said they were just paper. there was only 1 ice machine on the first floor...ridiculous. It was a decently sized room, but small for a auite.
Really the overall impression is that they bought a new property that was in obvious need of full renovations and staffing, did a few things here and there, have some food to calm the masses, trained the staff just enough to get them by, and are now trying to cut costs, making do and passing it all on to the unfortunate customer...or they only did minimal renovations to pretend and look like they were doing them. Either way..find another hotel until they do more.
Ask more questions when booking, always call the property directly to get the scoop, it is your room, you are paying so step up and take responsibility for your own stay. I usually do and this time because of many factors did not and it was 2 nites of hell.
p.s. Also, when I booked we were quoted a price of $88.00 a nite ith AAA, but when we checked out they different prices on both nites. we did end up getting the same final total, so double check rates when check in.
That's it no apology or anything!! The front desk lady didn't even seem surprised that I had found a bug! GROSS!!!
This has to be said and we also had to stay because of room shortage in the area, I see why they still had rooms. There are too many inaccurate reviews about this hotel. Just stayed at this hotel 5/26/11 and did so because of the decent reviews. I do not know where those reviewers were staying and when, but it surely could not have been this nasty old hotel. We have traveled and stayed at many different hotels, and this one was one of the worst. They did not tell us they were in the middle of renovations, nor did they tell us it was a relatively newly purchased property for Lexington. I do not know when the supposedly completed renovations were supposedly done... It was not a noise issue, they were not working on finishing the renovations at all that we could see,..but they were booking rooms in what they claimed to be the non-renovated portion of the hotel and selling them for the same price as any other room. The renovations on the 2nd floor looked pretty weak if they did do them. They should not book this space at all until it is completely renovated. The girl was nice enough, but new and not very helpful, seemed to be lack of training. The girl was also left alone to do too many jobs as. Requested a 2nd floor room with our reservation and assured it would be no problem...we were put in a 3rd floor and told there were no more rooms left on the 2nd...the elevator had a sign that they thought would make it all ok becase they let you know the renovations were not complete on the 3rd floor, whatever ... should have said stop and go back, run away!!! We do not have pets and do not want to stay in a pet room, so the first floor was not an option. The girl was also left alone to do too many jobs as.
Great beds, great staff and great breakfast at an affordable rate.
We not only will be back but we will only stay at the Hawthorn Suites when we are in Wichita Falls
The food was decent and they had eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, all the continental stuff...Breakfast was ok, layout was ok. used real plates that was nice but also used plastic forks, cups, no lids that fit.....all odd. served the same food both days. Had a managers reception kind of thing at nite...chips, salsa, veggies..drinks...that was a bit of a plus.
There were bed bugs all over me and my child was chewing on a condom she found on the couch this is the worst place to stay and the breakfast was RAW my child almost died
I booked a room for 2 nights and ended up leaving in the middle of the night on my first night because there was a bug in my bed crawling on me!!! When I went down to the front desk to give them back the bug that had made himself at home in my bed all they had to say was "Umm, ok."
